How to watch Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) Full Movie World Premiere at New York Film Festival.

Minions 2: The Rise of Gru whose main objective in life is to serve the most despicable villain they find. I'm talking of course about the adorable Minions, who throughout history have been looking for the most evil boss among many, but none of them lasted a newscast, due in large part to his bad luck. And finally, at the end of their first solo film, we saw how fate brought them together with one of our favorite movie and animation villains, the charismatic Gru. Now, they return to the fray in this new prequel titled Minions: The Origin of Gru.

Since they made their first Minions 2: The Rise of Gru appearance in 2010 in Despicable Me. These beings have won the hearts of millions of viewers. Produced again by Illumination, Minions: The Origin of Gru was released in Spanish cinemas on July 1, 2022 to liven up the summer, this time with a more seventies flavor.

It's the '70s, and Gru (voiced by Oscar® nominee Steve Carell) is growing up in a suburb amid the bouffant hairstyle and bell-bottoms boom. As a die-hard fan of a notorious villainous supergroup, the Wild Six, Gru devises a plan to prove to them that he's evil enough to work with them. Luckily, he has the help of his faithful followers, the Minions, always ready to wreak havoc. Together, Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto, a new Minion with braces on his teeth and desperate to feel accepted, will unleash their potential to build with Gru his first lair, experiment with his first weapons and carry out his first missions.

When The Wild Six kick out their boss, legendary wrestler Wild Knuckles (voiced by Oscar® winner Alan Arkin), Gru decides to interview to be accepted as a member of the group. But he fails in the attempt and things get even uglier when he tries to outsmart them and ends up becoming his deadly enemy. Trying to escape, Gru enlists the unexpected help of Wild Knuckles himself and discovers that even the most wicked minds need help from his friends from time to time. Originally featured in the Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment film "Despicable Me," the Minions have several qualities to be a hit with kids. They are funny, good-natured (although they are the servants of a villain, they don't seem to know much about what they are doing because they are also somewhat goofy), they are brightly colored and, since they don't speak any recognizable language, their language is universal. And very important: it is easy to make merchandise with them because they have a very simple shape.

Minions: The Rise of Gru will not be streaming anywhere online right away

The proof is that 12 years later there are countless toys, clothes, accessories, stationery and objects of all kinds with the image of the Minions (which, by the way, means henchman) and they even star in their own movies, such as the current "Minions: The rise of Gru".

That is why it is not so strange that Fender, which has recently made a few Custom Shops based on elements of recent television and film culture (such as its "Game of Thrones" or "Evangelion" guitars), has repeated this strategy this time. with the friendly Minions.

In addition, the purchase of these instruments will finance the Fender Play Foundation, whose programs give opportunities to Los Angeles students to enjoy educational experiences related to music, in this case, for example, it will give some of them the opportunity to see "Minions : The Rise of Gru" to then learn to play its theme song from the soundtrack, "Turn Up the Sunshine" by Diana Ross, which features artists Fender Tame Impala.

Families have shelled out $300 million to date on Illumination Entertainment and “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” making it the first animated film to cross the three-century mark in America during Covid, and since Frozen 2 opened in November 2019.

In its fourth weekend, “Minions: The Rise of Gru” continued to earn double-digit millions with $18 million. On Monday, at 3,816 locations, it earned $2.75 million.

After two years in which practically every studio and every film had a different release strategy and where it became clear that other distribution strategies are viable, but they do not cause the same impact or return the investment, Hollywood is determined to get people to go back to theaters.

WHY WAS DR. NEFARIO SO SPECIAL IN GRU’S JOURNEY OF VILLAINY?

The effects of the pandemic continue to be experienced in many industries. For Hollywood, it has already implied irreversible changes such as the decrease in the distribution window between cinemas and other media and which is now 45 days (half the time). This and the change in dynamics has made the return to the cinema more complicated than expected.

audiences were hesitant to return unless there was new content and studios were unwilling to release new content unless audiences were ready to return. A gap in the release schedule presented an attractive opportunity for event cinema providers to fill those gaps with programming tailored to niche audiences across a variety of genres.

The week of the premiere of Minions 2: The Rise of Gru, the new film in the saga of the villainous Gru and his funny yellow friends, we ran with my family to see it on the big screen.

What I like most about going to the movies as a family in a special room for children is that I get a break from worrying about my 6-year-old daughter talking loudly or making noises in the room, since all the little attendees do. They yell, ask questions, cry, throw popcorn and throw up, all at high volume. It's a magnificent party.

How To Watch The Minions: The Rise of Gru

But hours later, already remembering the movie and the characters, I realized that the film is a disaster. The story is inconsistent and the Minions jokes are repetitive. There are too many yellow butts for a single feature film. Inside the movie theater I didn't notice it, as Minions 2 blasted me with strong colors and gags one after another. And after almost exactly 90 minutes, the hasty adventure was over.

Illumination's "Minions: The Rise of Gru," the latest installment in the "Despicable Me" animated franchise, grossed an estimated $125 million domestically in the US in its four-day opening weekend, according to Universal.

With it, the film takes the record for the biggest opening during the July 4 holiday weekend, surpassing "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," which grossed $115 million in 2011.

The premiere is a big boost for theaters. The industry has been waiting anxiously to see if families will return to theaters as they have been somewhat reluctant to bring their children into theaters during the pandemic. While there have been some family hits like "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," this concern was made even more apparent by the box office flop last month of Disney and Pixar's "Lightyear."

But the success of "Minions" shows not only that families want to return, but that they will do so in large numbers for the right movie.

Minions: The Rise of Gru which loosely follows the 2010 first Minions movie as an extended origin story

"Families want to be in theaters," Jim Orr, president of national distribution for Universal, told CNN Business. "They want the social part of the event."

The reasons behind the strong performance of "Minions" are probably a mix of good reviews (it has a 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), being the next installment in a franchise that has grossed an estimated $4 billion worldwide, and possibly TikTok, after a trend on the social network of going to the movies in formal attire to see the movie went viral.

The premiere of "Minions" was originally scheduled for 2020, but was delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. While other family movies decided to stream, Universal saved "Minions" for theaters, a strategy that proved a winner this weekend.

This time we meet a 12-year-old Gru (Steve Carrell) who has to deal with all the usual things for a boy his age such as school, homework and obeying his mother.

But, in addition to the normal, Gru has big dreams of greatness and one of them is to be part of the best group of villains in the world, Los Vicio6, which is made up of disco diva Belle Bottom (Taraji P. Henson).

Watch: First Minions:

The roller skating champion Svenganza (Dolph Lundgren), the strongest of the Steel Hands team (Danny Trejo), a French supervillain with a large pincer for an arm named Jean Clawed (Jean-Claude Van Damme), a nun expert in use of the chacos under the name of Nunchuck (Lucy Lawless) and the founder and leader of the group, the ex-wrestler Wild Knucles (Alan Arkin).

In a strategic move, the team decides to dispense with the services of Wild Knuckles, so they set a trap for him to leave him out. The team now with 5 members decides to open a casting to choose among the best villains in the world to replace Knuckles and to provide fresh blood.

With Minions still going strong, the latest Marvel movie early

Gru finds out about this and decides to go into casting, but the skills supervillain team, seeing that he is just a boy, taunts him. In response, Gru steals a rare gem from them that has supernatural powers and leaves it in the Minions' care. But the team of villains kidnaps Gru and releases him in exchange for the little Minions taking the gem to San Francisco.

Bob, Stuart and Kevin, the most recognizable Minions in the entire saga, decide to rescue Gru. This time they will be joined by Otto, another talkative Minion who will get them into trouble over and over again. Gru will have to learn the value of friendship and decide whether to continue with his yellow minions or embark on the journey alone to become the greatest villain of all time.

Since the appearance of these tiny and cute yellow beings in the first Despicable Me movie, the Minions have become the favorite characters of children and adults. Thanks to that, Illumination decided to make movies centered on them that would also serve as prequels to what was seen in the first film.

The Minions, who flock around Gru like puppies

There is no doubt that Illumination is becoming a more than important studio that improves supervillainits animation techniques in each film it produces. That's the case with Minions 2: thanks to the wise direction of the creative team, led by director Kyle Balda, the film feels fresh due to the great references they add from the seventies, ranging from colors, costumes, scenarios and some on-screen graphics that have a recognizably retro feel.

Thanks also to the musical selection and the original music produced by Jack Antonoff, it manages to plunge us fully into the seventies world.

The story is full of sight gags, references to other movies, and nods to the Despicable Me movies. In that sense, there is an improvement over the previous installment: in the first Minions tape, the story felt chaotic, aimless, going nowhere; now with Gru's raid from the start and focusing the story only on the Minions mentioned above, everything is easier to follow and develops better.

When “Minions: The Rise of Gru”

The combination of these gags and the references to the seventies and kung fu movies make the story work in each of its parts and that the final act is visually and narratively effective.

In conclusion, Minions: The Rise of Gru (Minions: The origin of Gru) is a well-achieved animated family comedy that follows in the footsteps of its predecessor but improves in terms of the presentation of the story and the visual style that this time is frenetic, explosive and at the same time very retro. Thanks to that, moments of emotion and a perfect closing are achieved that will make them leave the cinema with a smile.

It may not be as memorable as its Favorite Villain counterparts, but it's better than the last one; Although the same formula is repeated, the new elements added save it to make it one of the funniest movies of the year so far.
